deep sea fishing

Yesterday, April 26th, a bunch of us went deep sea fishing down off the southern tip of Okinawa. We left the harbor around 2:00 pm or so and returned from the open water around 10:00. We had a blast and caught around 56 tuna and one mahi mahi.
That's me making my best fish face as I hold my first catch (and the first catch of the trip). The big green and blue fish is the mahi mahi that our friend Mike caught. The guy with the white beard is Captain Billy.

The sunset was beautiful that evening.

Kristen and I looking tough with our rods. We caught a lot of fish, mostly because we are so good at fishing. (Small hint of sarcasm here). The fact that profesionals were helping us and that tuna seem to bite at anything has nothing to do with it. :)

Erik embraced the chance to act like a pirate. Arrrrrrrgghh!!!

Here's the whole group behind all the fish we caught. Then we watched as they filleted all of it.

We'll be eating fish for a while! We all got together this evening (Sunday the 27th- Happy Birthday Tim!) and had a big cookout where everyone marinated their fish differently. Erik smoked ours and it was DE-LISH! But even after the cookout, our fidge is still stuffed with fish. Yum:)

Audrey -
ANOTHER great blog entry!!!! We never cease to love your photos - especially since there are always photos of Kristen and Giff...

I LOVE your FISH FACE!!!! We think you and Kristen need to "work" a little more on your "tough" faces.....

What a BEAUTIFUL sunset. We will be curious to know if Kristen ate any of the fish and if there was any she actually LIKED!!!!

It sure sounds (and looks by your photos) like you all are having a WONDERFUL time in Okinawa.

We hear you met Chiaki and had lunch with her. We agree that she is really "cute". Wait until you meet her older sister - Chiharu. They are very different, so not to be compared - just to be enjoyed.

Keep up the postings - your friends Bill and judy

Have you tried cerveche? (sp?)
cut raw fish into 1/2 inch pieces and marinate in lime juice, sliced onions, peppers and spices - very tender!
